  1. So disagreeing with the administrative decision to go to war is disrespectful to those who have committed themselves to serve our country, sometimes sacrificing life and limb in the process? That’s a non-sequitur.

Has good come out of the Iraq war? Of course. Has bad come from it? Clearly. Which of those outweighs the other is a matter of dispute. Neither of those have anything to do with the question of whether or not the war was justified.

At the risk of looking like an asshole, I have to point out that this guy’s heroism doesn’t necessarily make his reasoning sound.

  2. Hi Eric – I agree with you about disagreeing with the decision to go to war and standing with our troops. And really, I would agree with most of what you’ve said. My conclusions are a little different…

Obama has been on the side of pulling out of Iraq whenever it was most popular. He would have rather left Iraq in a mess. If we’re in a war (whether justified or not) wouldn’t we rather leave in victory and the place with democracy rather than retreating and leave chaos for the people we can to liberate? That’s the point of this video.

However, one thing we have to look at is what Obama said justified a war in the second debate when asked when a war would be justified should the USA have no economic interest. Obama answered genocide and ethnic cleansing would render a war justified. That statement justifies the Iraq, period. We all know that Hussein was killing massive amounts of people. Therefore, by Obama’s own words, the war was justified and worth fighting to begin with.
